Capcom has release new, and really spooky, gameplay footage from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The footage comes straight from Gamescom 2016, and is taken from the actual game.

Unlike the Beginning Hour teaser demo a lot of you have played, the Lentern gameplay video shows a segment from the final game. Capcom has said that although the footage appears distorted, it was done on perhaps for the sake of the video. The effects are meant to mimic the poor quality of the videotapes players will find in the game. The final game will look much sharper but equally as scarier, if not more so.

In the video, we can see a female protagonist exploring a run down house, while trying to avoid an old woman with a lantern. It looks like players will be able to hide from the woman, and presumably other enemies, instead of fighting them. Whether fighting is a viable option remains unknown, though judging by the screenshot below, if seems like guns do play a part in the game.

Resident Evil 7 will be out January 24, 2017, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will also be available on PlayStation VR on launch.
