Koei Tecmo Games has revealed at Gamescom 2016 more information about the beta demo of samurai action RPG Nioh. With the impressive success of the alpha demo, and some feedback from the community, the Nioh beta demo will be making a lot of changes in order to provide more fun, enjoyability and challenge into the game.

The beta demo will be available exclusively via the PlayStation store from 23 August to 6 September – after this, the demo will not be available. The Mark of the Conqueror DLC will be available, and there will also be the new Mark of the Strong DLC to get hold of.

Players don’t have to worry about losing their progress either; those who got the Mark of the Conqueror DLC during the alpha demo will receive a brand-new suite of weapons and more starting money, as well as access to the new Nakatsu stage from the get-go. Either way, even experienced players should look out for the other new addition: the Twilight mission. During this mission, stronger enemies and terrifying opponents will face the player as they revisit Usuki or Nakatsu, but succeeding will net them impressive and valuable rewards.

The beta demo also includes a selection of brand-new weapons, including spears, axes, hammers, katanas, and a long-range hand cannon rifle. For those who want a little more, there’s Onmyo magic and Ninjutsu to try out as well, with special effects and techniques to use. And finally, the Training Dojo has also been added, allowing players to test out weapons, teaching players how to fight with a katana and how to play the game.

Nioh is scheduled for launch in late 2016 for the PlayStation 4.
