Those who got early access to the vast universe of No Man’s Sky, and started naming planets and creatures, will have to sign off all that hard work. The servers are being wiped prior to release. However, this is just to give everyone a fair footing when the game is released for everyone, which was expected.
Before people complain though, Harry Denholm of Hello Games said in a Tweet that only online discovery storage is being wiped; this is just the names of planets and creatures. Player saves will be, well, saved, so they’ll keep their items, upgrades and abilities – quite easily keeping things fair whilst allowing players who already have saves to continue with that file.
No Man’s Sky will be released on August 9. Not long left now before the galaxy is open to everyone.
