Apparently, myself and other horror fans won’t experience any sleepless nights in 2016 (well, no more than usual), as Outlast 2 has been delayed until early 2017.
The sad, sad announcement came through Red Barrel’s Facebook page, in which it said that it cannot release a game before it was “tested to the extreme”. I believe that in this case, “extreme” means making sure the game scars you for life even if you play it with the lights on while your mommy holds your hand.
“We had to make a difficult decision recently. After weighing our options we’ve decided to postpone Outlast 2’s release until Q1 of 2017,” Red Barrels wrote. “Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.”
The developers continue to reassure us that Outlast 2 will still “scare the crap” out of us in 2017. Good.
Outlast 2 did not have a proper release date before this announcement, but it was scheduled to arrive around Fall of 2016, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
