The Walking Dead Creative Director Dennis Lenart took the Comic Con stage together with Clementine’s voice actress Melissa Hutchison to reveal a few more details about the upcoming third season.

The Walking Dead: Season 3 will continue the story of the previous two seasons, but will also serve as an entry point for newcomers who, for some unknown reason, decided to skip the story so far. Players new to the series will have a chance to learn more about Clementine’s backstory, thanks to a young survivor named AJ.

Fans might recognize the young AJ as Rebecca’s son from Season 2. AJ is no longer a baby, but a small child, so we know a few years have passed since the end of the previous season.

We also get a few more details about Javier, another new survivor and a second playable character. We don’t know much about him, but we do know he has a family he is trying to protect from the undead apocalypse. This probably means we will see a lot more new characters in Season 3.

Lastly, Lenart has shared with us three new screenshots from the game, and one poster. In two of the screens we see Clementine and Javier – first in a walker infest slaughterhouse, and then together with a new unnamed characters. The last one is of Clem and AJ hidding from someone, or something.

The Walking Dead Season 3 will arrive later this year, around fall 2016.
