After rumors circulated about the possibility of the Nintendo NX being using only digital based content, GameStop CEO, Paul Raines, confirmed at a company earnings call that the console will have some form of physical media.

Although the comments in no way confirm a full scale launch of disc or cartridge based game media, he was able to clearly lay out the fact that it will exist and GameStop will play a role in its sales. The official Yahoo transcripts state, “It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.” Raines went further to say that they are just as excited to learn about new Nintendo products and IPs.

Nintendo seems to be keeping a lot of information about the mysterious console under wraps, as even the GameStop representatives didn’t seem to have a clear understanding of it. However, the representatives did weigh the opinion that cartridges would be beneficial to the pre-owned market as they would be easier to refurbish.

Hopefully more information will be made available soon as Nintendo is eyeing an early 2017 release date.
