Hiedo Kojima took the stage during Sony’s E3 2016 presser, to roaring applause from the audience. After walking down a bridge of light taken straight from Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean music video, the head of Kojima Productions has revealed the studio’s first game – Death Stranding.

Starring Norman Reedus, Death Stranding appears to be just the kind of game you’d expect from Kojima – epic and weird. The teaser trailer shows Reedus’ character lying naked on a polluted beach, covered in oil and dead marine animals. Reedus wakes up and cradles a baby that’s attached to him by an artificial umbilical cord. Seconds later, the baby disappears, and he see a huge scar of the protagonist’s abdomen, indicating something was removed from inside him, presumably the disappearing baby.

Things get even weirder from here, as we see small hand prints appear all over the character’s body and the sand next to him, as five floating men arrive over the horizon. Words don’t really do it justice.

Death Stranding is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, as part of his new partnership with Sony. As we wait from further details about Kojima Production’s debut title, all we are left with are questions and speculations.
