ReCore, first announced exactly one year ago, finally got some gameplay footage to show us. The gameplay trailer was first aired during Microsoft’s E3 2016 presentation, and shows heroine Joule Adams and her three Corebot companions: Mack, Seth and Duncan.
Joule is fast and agile, and can hold her own in the harsh world of Far Eden. She can shoot, jump, double jump, dodge and dash with the best of them. But every hero needs a trusty companion, and that’s where the Corebots come in. Mack, the dog-like of the Corebots, seems to be the default companion and can both fight off enemies and keep Joule company as they explore. Seth is an “escape artist” and can help her climb walls and other surfaces, or cross dangerous terrain. Duncan is the heavy-hitter and the best choice when it comes to combat.
ReCore is clearly inspired by games like Mega Man and Metroid Prime, and developers Comcept and Armature Studio hope to use the game to bring these exact same experiences to a new generation.
ReCore will be released on September 13 for $39.99, on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
