Microsoft’s Project Scorpio has finally been announced, and we’ll be able to get our hands on it in 2017’s holiday season.
The mysterious Project Scorpio from Microsoft was announced during their official E3 press conference as an additional console in the Xbox family that will come towards the end of next year. Although we didn’t even get to see how it looks, The Microsoft team did give us the full details on what’s inside the powerful machine.
The main idea behind Scorpio is providing true 4K images without sacrificing overall performance and upscaling as little 1080p footage as possible. The console is looking to power both this and its VR capabilities with over 6 teraflops of GPU power.
The main influence in the design comes from the industry people themselves, as Microsoft actually took the time to sit down with lead developers to discuss what they want a console to be able to do with their games.
One of the most important aspects of Scorpio is it’s inclusive nature. Offering complete compatibility, all games and peripheral available for the Xbox One will also be available for the entire family, including the Xbox One S and Scorpio as well. Basically, any game or accessory that is developed for one console in particular, will be compatible across all of them.
While we are still more than a year away from the holiday 2017 release, Microsoft has chosen this time to officially reveal the future console so that other developers will be able to optimize their games for maximum performance. This Means that we are in for some epic surprises at next year’s E3 press conference.
