The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson was the first to take to Microsoft’s E3 stage to show off new gameplay of Gears of War 4. This time around, the live demo was all about the co-op.
First up was a rather lengthy live demo of the co-op campaign, where JD Fenix and Kait were kicking ass against the Locust ad a new type of enemy called the Swarm. During the entire level a storm was raging around the players, and the strong gusts of wind could either hinder them, or help them take down the enemy in some creative ways.
Not only did we get to see more gameplay footage of the game, but we also learned Horde mode is back. Horde 3.0 will feature new classes, skills and abilities tied to cards and more.
However, the big news are that all co-op modes, be in campaign, Horde or Co-op Versus, will be available for cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. For the first time in the franchise’s history, console gamers will be able to play together with PC owners in the same squad.
Be sure to watch the presentation all the way to the end for a special guest appearence, or scroll down to the bottom of the screenshots gallery to see who it is.
Gears of War 4 is out October 11 on Xbox One and PC.
