EA and Respawn Entertainment took the stage at their official E3 2016 press conference to showcase their galaxy sprawling epic war in their upcoming sequel – Titanfall 2.
Titanfall 2 is aiming to increase the scale of the original mech title through epic new weapons, features and of course, an offline single-player campaign. The debut trailer does a great job at teasing the events that take place across the galaxy, however the biggest news is the relationship that players will form with their Titan.
The trailer showcases a sentient Titan who is being questioned about it’s recent mission. After it ended with the tragic loss of a human pilot, the mech was forced to re-group with a new Pilot (most likely the player) and carry on the mission. While the main story details came to a halt after that, the trailer teased plenty of new planets to explore as well as dangerous wildlife that players will have to deal with in addition to the Militia fighters.
A lot of the guns that are featured in the teaser look very familiar to players of the original title, but the coolest new feature is the grappling hook. Adding to the dynamic free-running skills that pilots featured in the first game, the grappling hook lets players jump larger distances than the jet pack would previously allow. Even better is the use of the hook ability to grab opposing players and bring them in for a quick kill.
Without confirming too much, Titanfall 2 is looking to have new Titan classes and new abilities for Pilots as well. The official E3 premiere showcased more than fans could have asked for.
Thankfully we’ll be able to get our hands on the new titans when Titanfall 2 is released on October 28, for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
