Call of Cthulhu publisher, Cyanide Studio, has released the game’s E3 trailer ahead of the show.

In the trailer, we visit the eerie Hawkins Family Mansion on the disturbing Darkwater Island, where detective Edward Pierce is investigating the death of Sarah Hawkins and her family. This investigation will lead Edward closer and closer to Cthulhu’s sphere of influence, compromising his sanity and grip on reality.

According to the developer, madness is the only way to uncover the truth, so players will have to balance between their dwindling sanity and their desire to find out what exactly is going on.

Call of Cthulhu has been announced back in 2014 as a Frogwares title. In February, it was announced that Cyanide Studio will take over the game’s development. Frogwares, in the meantime, has moved on to a different H.P. Lovecraft-inspired game, title The Sinking City.

Call of Cthulhu is now set to release in 2017, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
