Breach is a newly announced arcade mode for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It includes competitive shooter elements wrapped in a narrative about hackers and corrupted corporations.
As a Ripper, a hacker in the year 2029, players will enter a virtual reality environment where their avatar can sneak or shoot their way into the world’s most secure servers. Destroying security measures and steal classified data will net players XP, credits and booster packs they can then use to upgrade their avatar’s skills and arsenal.
From what we see in the trailer, your abilities in Breach mimic those in the single-player experience of Mankind Divided. However, unlike in the campaign, you’ll be able to disassemble any weapon you pick up and use the parts to upgrade your favorite guns.
Eidos Montreal promise to keep updating Breach with new challenges and features on a regular basis. Once the player beats a challenge, they can challenge their friends and other players to try and beat their score. So whether you play Breach for the added layer of Deus Ex lore, or for the rush of a good challenge, it seems like you’re going to get what you’re looking for.
Breach will be available for free with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided once the game is released on August 23 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
