EA will be releasing a new Star Wars title every year, starting with Star Wars Battlefront 2 in 2017.

During an earnings call with investors, the publisher’s CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that Battlefront will be back in 2017 with “bigger and better worlds” based on the new Star Wars movies. By “new movies” we’re hoping Jorgensen means Episode VII and beyond, and not the prequel trilogy.

We also learned that EA is planning on releasing a Star Wars game every year after that, for at least the next four years. This means that we won’t be seeing Visceral’s Star Wars title, or the recently revealed Respawn Entertainment game any time soon. Actually, according to Jorgensen, Visceral’s uncharted-like action-adventure title is most likely to hit first, sometimes in 2018.

Star Wars Battlefront was released in 2015 to mixed reviews. We gave it a score of 6.5, stating that it sure looks and sounds like a Star Wars game, but plays like a generic and rather boring multiplayer shooter.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is now set to release in 2017.
