It may or may not come as a surprise, but the Wii U version of Minecraft is getting new content based on Super Mario. The cosmetic DLC is due to land on May 17, and will be free to own.
The Super Mario pack contains over 40 character skins, including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Wario, Bowser and 7 of his minions, as well as new mobs, such as blocky Hammer Bros and Dry Bones, similar to the way the game currently has Creepers and Zombies.
There are also a Super Mario themed pre-made world, 15 different pieces of Mario themed music, and item textures inspired by Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Of course, all of the world and item textures will be available for you to create your own Super Mario themed worlds.
It seems that Minecraft’s success can even bring competitors like Nintendo and Microsoft together.
Minecraft Wii U is currently available through the Nintendo eShop, with a retail version coming June 17 for the suggested price of $29.99. The retail version will include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack on the disc.
