According to Siliconera, the Publishers at Koei Tecmo have announced that their sequel, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be going free to play.
Gamers who are unfamiliar with the Dead or Alive Xtreme series will be able to try the newest entry before they buy it now that DOA Xtreme 3 will be free to play. The free to play model will launch on May 16 for the PlayStation 4 and Vita, and will feature Kasumi as 1 playable character.
Players will be able to play all of the interactive mini games such as Owner mode, Photo sessions and all of the resort island activities. The result is that all external characters, outfits and the Casino will now operate as DLC to the F2P version of the game. The characters will retail differently on the home console versus the portable console.
New characters will cost 1,200 Yen ($12) for the PS4 version of the character and the PS Vita characters will cost 1,100 Yen, ( $10). The casino can also be purchased separately for 2,000 Yen (or $19) on either system. However, should players develop into fans of the game during their free playtime, all of their save data will transfer to the full game once purchased.
Unfortunately, this free to play model is only available for players with a Japanese PSN account. Forcing western audiences to look elsewhere for the region free disc version of the game. However, players who are extremely eager to find a loop hole can always check out PlayStation Lifestyle’s method to creating your own Japanese PSN account, even if you don’t live there.
