Infinity Ward is back at the helm of an action packed franchise, and are boldly going where no Call of Duty has gone before with – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

According to the official trailer, the story is fairly simple. A surprise attack from the military organization called the Settlement Defense Force, devastates both the armed forces and civilians of the United States. In response, the American Military has no choice but to go to war. A war which will feature earth and space combat, as well as maps that are on different planets!

Putting gamers in the pilot seat of their very own space ship, Infinite Warfare takes the franchise in a new direction. As a Captain in what appears to be the United States Navy, this title gives players something they never had in the series, choices. While not completely detailed, the game will supposedly give players the opportunity to choose between different story options and tactics, instead of just following orders. Possibly leading to unique campaign experiences as well.

This isn’t to say that this entry will deviate entirely off course, however, as certain parts of the campaign will still be experienced as a soldier on the battlefield. Describing the balancing of old and new, Dave Stohl, Studio head at Infinity Ward, claims that “On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story that Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans.”

Ultimately, these changes are leading the franchise in a new direction that pushes the current technology, even going so far as to reduce load times to a “near seamless experience”. However, the themes of old and new have a lot to play with the game’s impending release as Infinity Ward has also taken the time to give their initial hit title in the Warfare series a fresh coat of paint as well.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a 2007 bestseller for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It helped lead the industry away from traditional WWII combat, into the modern world, and now into the future. Captain Price, Gaz and Soap have all received a high quality face lift with dynamic lighting, updated particle effects and enhanced animation in this updated gameplay. Featuring a complete over haul, certain areas look a little different than others, however you can check out a head to head comparison here.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will launch on November 4. Gamers will be able to purchase the new entry on its own, however the Modern Warfare HD remaster will only be available in the special editions of the game. The Legacy Edition will be available physically and Digitally for $79.99 and features both titles. The Digital Deluxe Edition contains digital versions of both games and the Season pass for $99.99. Lastly, fans can also buy the Legacy Pro Edition $119.99, which will feature both titles, a Season Pass, a collectible steel book case, downloadable content and a digital copy of the official soundtrack.

Infinity Ward will launch Modern Warfare with 10 multiplayer maps alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on November 4, for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
