Sony gamers that enjoyed Studio Wildcard’s, Ark: Survival Evolved, will soon be able to try out their multiplayer spinoff, Ark: Survival of the Fittest.
Survival of the fittest is a Multiplayer Online Survival Arena (M.O.S.A.). It pits up to 72 combatants against each other in a hunger games style arena where they will have to survive waves of monsters, as well as each other. Forcing competitors to fight, the arena features a “Ring of Death” that continuously gets smaller throughout the match, and kills players who cross it. The game will also feature several different game modes including Free-for-all matches and multiplayer matches with 2, 4 and 6 player tribes.
The title is being released through PlayStation’s beta program, however the developers have promised to bring regular content updates and cash prizes to the community. Survival of the fittest will feature the same starting area and lack of supplies as the main game, except that players will now have to race against the clock in order to create weapons and shelter in an effort to take out the enemy tribes.
Players will be able to get used to the mechanics through an offline practice mode where they will compete against training bots. Allowing them to hone their skills and truly become the fittest as they move on to surviving the 30 minute “Instant Action” scenario or a 3 hour all out war. To learn more about the game, check out the developer’s official PlayStation blog post.
Ark: Survival of the Fittest will be available on July 19, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
