Bethesda Softworks has announced a closed beta for their upcoming strategy card game, The Elder Scolls: Legends.

Legends is a strategy card game that was announced Bethesda’s E3 2015 conference. After almost a year of development at Dire Wolf Digital, Bethesda has officially opened up registration for the beta. Although confirmed for an official release on the iPad, the current beta is only available for PC users and can be signed up for on the game’s official website.

The trailer gives a concise overview of the game by narrating the basic strategies involved. Playing similarly to Hearthstone, gamers will have access to a basic hand of cards such as spells, monsters, heroes and deities. Players then use magicka, which is collected every turn, to use the cards. Each player is given 30hp and the player that reaches 0 loses.

Deviating from the traditional card game play, Legends introduces a new lane system that separates the battlefield down the middle. Where as most card games only allow users to have one monster out on the field, Legends will allow players to create an entire army on the two lane setup. Each monster then being able to attack enemy monsters within the same lane or the other player directly.

Most notably, however, was the announcement of a playable campaign in Legends, where players can continue to explore the growing lore of the Elder Scrolls series. Players can also compete in arenas and online as they level up and customize their cards for the greatest effect. For more information on how the game is played, you can check out the gameplay trailer above.

The Edler Scrolls: Legends is currently in-development for PC and tablet devices.
