Nosgoth is closing down its servers for good after being cancelled by Square Enix.

The free-to-play team deathmatch title that pits humans against vampires has entered open beta in early 2015 and never officially left it. Now, publisher Square Enix announced on the Nosgoth forums that the game is going to be closing down because “its audience hasn’t grown enough to sustain ongoing operations.”

“It is with a heavy heart and an immense sense of sadness that we must announce the end of Nosgoth’s development,” wrote the community manager. “Servers will continue to run until 31st May 2016, during which time you will be able to play the game as normal. After that date, Nosgoth will be taken offline for the last time.”

So at least the game will be available for play on PC until May 31, so if you haven’t tried the game maybe you should go check it out before it goes completely dark. Who knows, you might enjoy it while it lasts.

Other Legacy of Kain projects that might be in development at Square Enix will not be affected by Nosgoth’s cancellation. “Any future Legacy of Kain project will be considered independently of Nosgoth and on the merits of the proposals alone,” a Square Enix representative told Eurogamer.
