Frogwares, best known for their Sherlock Holmes series, has announced The Sinking City, an open world investigation Lovecraftian title. This game should not be confused with another Call of Cthulhu game by Focus Home Entertainment and Cyanide Games.
According to Frogwares’ official website, The Sinking City takes place in a “fictional open world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.” Players will investigate the city of Oakmont Massachusetts in the 1920s, currently suffering from a supernatural waterflood.
“Can you investigate this beleaguered town and untangle the tragic extent of its failings or will you be driven beyond madness yourself?” the tagline asks, ominously.
“It’s bigger than what we’ve ever made and we feel it’s the right next step for us, bringing the investigations to be free and opened in the city,” Frogwares write on their blog. “We also believe that Lovecraft universe, Cthulhu Mythos is the right setting for the game.”
No release date or platforms were revealed at this point, but The Sinking City will be at GDC next week.
