A beta program for the PS4 update 3.50 – codenamed MUSASHI – has begun. Sony is planning to test quite a lot of interesting new social features this time around, as well as promises of remote play on PC.
Social features include a friend notification to let you know when your friends get online, which makes playing together much easier. On the opposite side, there’s also a function for appearing offline when you want to play solo or do something without being mobbed by annyoing party requests. For when you want to organize a session with friends, you can schedule an event and choose who’s going to be part of the party. User who agreed to participate in the event will automatically join the party when it starts. Finally, there’s an option for seeing what your party members are currently playing so you can decide whether you want to join them or not.
Another big feature coming soon is Remote Play, which will be coming to Windows PCs and Macs. Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available in the beta, but it’s on the way. The update also includes the ability to stream directly to Dailymotion from the PS4, and archive the stream when its done.
More details on the MUSASHI beta, including its release date, will follow soon. The future of the PlayStation 4 is an exciting one, that’s for sure. Stay tuned for more.
