After releasing an array of concept art, Deck13 has opened the envelope to reveal the first screenshots from the pre-alpha build of their upcoming Sci-fi RPG – The Surge.
The screenshots show a very intricately detailed, futuristic world, explored in the third-person. The white-male featured in each screenshot is indeed the game’s protagonist, and is seen wearing his signature exoskeleton. According to the official press release, this exoskeleton is an extension of the character, and serves as not only a weapon against your enemies, but a mobile base of operations as well.
Nothing was announced about the combat mechanics themselves, but it was revealed that the exoskeleton would feature a modular progression system. Meaning that as players kill stronger enemies, they can loot parts from their defunct exoskeletons and use them to make their character more powerful. Deck13 has described this mechanical theft by claiming, “Of course, the best parts will often be the hardest to cut off – and they’ll usually be attached to the most dangerous enemies! “
Currently, The Surge has no release date. However, we do know the game is set to be released on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
