A new Nintendo Direct has revealed two brand new games for the Pokemon series: Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. The Direct video showed off a few scenes of animators and designers working on the games, but aside from the logos, we don’t know anything about it.

Though the Sun and Moon concept was leaked a day before the Direct when it was shown that Nintendo had copyrighted the names, it’s still exciting to see a new pair of Pokemon games. It’s also safe to assume that these games will be Generation 7 – after all, it has been a few years since Generation 6 was released.

The Direct also showed us that the eShop versions of Red, Blue and Yellow will be compatible with Pokemon Bank, allowing players to transfer the ‘originals’ over to the Bank, and thus, Pokemon Sun and Moon. It’s going to be compatible with both Pokemon X and Y, as well as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Overall, an interesting reveal! There’s still much to be revealed about Pokemon Sun and Moon, but we know they’ll be released in the Holiday season of 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS.
