The Witness is the highly anticipated adventure puzzle game by Jonathan Blow, creator of the critically acclaimed Braid. The game is to be set on an island where the player must complete various maze-like puzzles in order to advance and uncover the secrets that lie ahead.
To provide some much need background, and maybe hints, are many audio recordings scattered throughout the island. We now know who the voices in those recording are going to belong to, as the cast of voice actors working on the game was recently revealed. It’s clear to see The Witness is aiming high with such a talented cast.
First of all we have Ashley Johnson, who you probably know as Ellie from The Last of Us. She has also been in other huge games such as Tales from the Borderlands and Infamous: First Light. Phil LaMarr, who voiced Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, as well as Ratbag from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is also lending his voice to the project. Another huge name as of recent is Mathew Waterson, who has voiced characters in Fallout 4, Halo 5 and The Order: 1886. Lastly, singer Terra Deva is going to be joining this already impressive team.
The story of The Witness is going to be very subtle, as opposed to any of the previously mentioned games, and so the player will have to go actively searching for it. The talented group of people above will have the difficult task of drawing players in and making them want to hear and explore more. He have faith they’ll succeed.
The Witness is due for release on PlayStation 4 and PC on January 26, and on iOS later in 2016.
