Oculus VR has announced that starting January 6, on 8am PT, pre-orders will finally be available for the Oculus Rift. This means we will also finally find out the final retail price of the Rift, which founder Palmer Luckey hinted previously that it could be upwards of $350.
The Rift comes bundled with a copy of Lucky’s Tale, as well as all pre-purchases getting a copy of EVE: Valyrie. Make sure to wake up early to secure your copy of the Rift over at the official site, where you can also watch a countdown leading up to the event.
However, it’s a different story for the Oculus Touch controller that was thought to be releasing alongside the Rift.
A blog released by Oculus tells us that the controller will not be making its Q1 appearance. This is due to the company wanting to take more time to “perfect” the controller.
“On Touch hardware, we’ve made significant advances in ergonomics, and we’re implementing many changes that make Touch even more comfortable, reliable, and natural. We’re also implementing changes that improve hand pose recognition.”
Will you be getting your very own Oculus Rift one pre-orders start? Or will you wait to get the whole package, with the Oculus Touch controllers?
