After a pretty obvious teaser, Otherside Entertainment has officially announced System Shock 3. If you go to their website, you’ll see the game’s logo, and a green digital face. You’ll also hear a distorted voice calling you an insect.
The full phrase is actually “Did you think I’d forgotten you, insect?”
The voice will be familiar only to those who play the previous games in the series, as it is unmistakably belongs to SHODAN, an evil AI and main antagonist of System Shock and System Shock 2.
At the bottom of the page there’s a link for you to sign up for updates on the game. If you follow the link, you’ll arrive at a Survey Monkey page, where you are requested to answer a few questions before the signing process is completed.
While most of these questions are pretty standard, it is the last question that stands out as it asks you to rate your interest in VR games. If the developer is interested in making System Shock 3 a virtual reality title, it makes sense it will try and gauge the fans’ reaction beforehand.
Would you play a System Shock VR game? Expect more details, including the full game reveal itself, to arrive sometime next year.
