Tekken 7 has been out in arcade’s for a little while now in Japan, and Bandai Namco is already looking to expand upon it with their announcement today of Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. Fated Retribution appears to be some parts expansion and some parts update, but the biggest reveal of all was the inclusion of the iconic Street Fighter character Akuma.

While this isn’t a huge surprise since Capcom and Bandai Namco have already confirmed Tekken X Street Fighter, Akuma’s place in official Tekken canon has now been set. Bandai Namco has not stated outwardly what Fated Retribution will mean for the two fighting game universes, but Akuma looks to be playing a major role in the story.

Gameplay-wise, Akuma looks like he fits right in with the Tekken 3D combat system. From his Hadoken to his infamously powerful Raging Demon ultimate attack, the moves all retain their familiar feel while still feeling credible in Tekken. Not many new moves from Akuma seem to make a debut, so we may have to wait for more details to see if our favorite demon has any new tricks.

No release date has been announced for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, nor for Tekken 7 itself for that matter. Both will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, probably.
