Now that Microsoft has boosted revenue with backwards compatibility between the Xbox One and Xbox 360, Sony has decided to dive in as well by emulating PS2 games on the PlayStation 4.

The new emulation software was tested out with the recent Star Wars theme console bundles which were packaged with several star wars games from the PS2 era. The software is not a simple port of older code however, as the emulation softwares will in most cases, offer incredibly higher resolution to games that are still a little rough around the edges.

The games Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Bounty Hunter, and Jedi Star Fighter have created a strong enough wave of success that has metaphorically broken the dam holding back other great games. Sony has been working for a while to bring this together, and we are excited to see what other legendary titles are re-released through the backwards compatibility.
