Supermassive Games just announced their are working on a new expansion for the horror title Until Dawn, called Rush of Blood. What’s surprising is that this DLC is actually an on-rails shooter for the PlayStation VR. Or a “terrifying rollercoaster ride of thrills and scares in a fast-paced, arcade-style shooter,” according to Executive Producer Simon Harris.
While on-rails, the developers do promise that Rush of Blood will feature the key mechanics of Until Dawn, which are the Butterfly Effect and the branching story. As we still don’t know how these will be implemented, all we can do is guess. Will we be literally choosing down which tunnel to go, or will it be affected by our reflexes and shooting skills? We’ll have to wait and see.
I really liked Until Dawn when it first came out, but criticized it for being too much of a “playable movie” and no having enough freedom when it came down to the actual gameplay. It seems like Rush of Blood will have even less freedom, but that might be perfect for the PlayStation VR.
No word on when this expansion comes out, but we do know it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
