Fanboys are rejoicing as publishers, Koei Tecmo have released brand new screenshots from their new game, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. In addition, the developers behind the series, Team Ninja, have also released the first gameplay trailer for the title as well.
While fans everywhere are excited about the February 25 release date, they are also reminded that the game will not feature any localization to countries out side of Japan and some Asian territories.
Gamers have speculated that this could be due to an exuberant amount of activism within the video game industry on the western hemisphere, however several other factors could have also contributed to this decision, such as the cost of localizing the content and voice work to western countries. Luckily, the release of the title on the PlayStation 4 and Vita does provide a sliver of hope.
Both of the new generation of PlayStation consoles have the luxury of being region free consoles. Basically meaning that if a gamer buys a physical copy of a game developed for non-english speaking audiences, they can still play them with out interruption on their American consoles. This does not apply to downloaded content and games however, as these files are regionally coded.
Luckily, gamers everywhere will be able to play the game, but they’ll have to go through the trouble of finding a copy first, and learning Japanese. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be released on February 25th on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, but for now we simply hope you enjoy the view.
