Disney Interactive and Square Enix have announced Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue as the latest edition to their incredible franchise.

Announced earlier at TGS 2015, the game is very much in line with both Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 Remixes, except that this time around gamers will get the opportunity to play the incredible 2012 3DS title, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. For the first time,  players twill guide series protagonists Sora and Riku as they attempt to master their Keyblades in 1080p on the PlayStation 4.

Additionally, the comprehensive title will feature a high definition movie that details the events of the upcoming mobile game, Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X. The movie is told in the same vein as 358/2 days was in 1.5 Remix and details the earliest events of the Keyblade war.

Lastly, the developers have sought to begin linking the events of the the PSP title Birth by Sleep to the upcoming sequel Kingdom Hearts 3 by creating an all new chapter called Birth by Sleep 0.2. This adventure is told from the perspective of only one of the game’s protagonists – Aqua, pictured below with blue hair.

Regardless of the size of the individual games and movies, the title is fairly large and finishes the job of retelling the classic games while also moving forward to the brand new adventure that awaits.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue currently has no official release date. However, a trailer for the upcoming PS4 title is expected to drop this Thursday, September 17. Be sure to come back for all the new information then.
