Players will be able to play Fallout 4 and continue to quest and level up well after the main story campaign has ended. These are indeed happy news to all you completionists out there.
Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4 will never actually end, and will not have a level cap, so players can keep playing the game till the end of time. Or at least until Fallout 5 will come out.
Letting the player continue and enjoy the game after the main campaign has ended is a relatively common practice in many open world games these days. But that was not the case with Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Both games ended the moment the credits rolled, and the player was unable to return to the wasteland and finish off any open quests.
Fallout 3 admittedly fixed the issue with the Broken Steel DLC, but not before many players voiced their outrage with the otherwise excellent game. Fallout: New Vegas never did.
Thankfully, Fallout 4 will last forever once it’s released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on November 10.
