Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will let you negotiate with some bosses instead of resorting to violence.

After an enormous outcry from fans about the limiting boss battles of Dues Ex: Human Revolution, Eidos Montreal has implemented new ways to win against bosses in Mankind Divided. Where the previous entry forced the player to engage a boss in a firefight instead of allowing to utilize stealth or persuasion, the upcoming title won’t rely as much on violence.

In an interview with the Official Xbox Magazine (Via GamerRadar), the game’s gameplay director Patrick Fortier teased the variety of strategies you can use in boss battles. “It’s all about supporting all the different play aspects,” he told the magazine.

“There are ways to stealth them, there are ways to beat them in combat and there are conversations you can have that maybe give you a different means of dealing with the situation altogether.”

Narrative director Marry DeMarle added that the player can even let some bosses live to affect the way the story progresses. “For Human Revolution, because of the way we designed it, [the bosses] always died in the cutscenes. You had no choice,” she said. “But we rectified that in the Missing Link DLC, and we’ve rectified it in this game.”

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided arrives next year on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and everything indicates it will be just as good as its predecessor, if not better.
