Once upon a time, LucasArts and BioWare released a little old game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which then turned into quite possibly one of the greatest Star Wars games in video game history. Then, due to a huge positive reception and demand for more, LucasArts teamed up with Obsidian Entertainment to come up with Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords.
KOTOR 2 received worldwide acclaim as well, though fell short of its predecessor if only because the project was rushed and much of the original content was cut. Now, a decade later, Aspyr has partnered with LucasArts and Disney Interactive to release a new and improved version of this awesome game not just for Mac and Linux, but for PC as well. Oh, and did we mention that this is for Steam?
The huge update will include 37 Steam achievements to unlock just in case you thought you hadn’t done everything, and Steam Cloud saves will help keep all your data backed up. Native widescreen resolution support, in addition to resolutions up to 4K and 5K, will keep the game compatible with more modern gaming setups. Controller support for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and many others retain that nostalgic feel of playing the game on the original Xbox. But the biggest update of all will be, that’s right, you guessed it, Steam Workshop support.
That’s right, you’ll finally be able to mod Knights of the Old Republic 2 and download other mods to increase your sandbox of fun in a galaxy far, far away. Included on launch day will be the ever-famous The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification, which Aspyr worked hard with the creators, Restored Content Mod Team, to bring to the Workshop.
Sounds pretty good right? Well here’s the best part, it’s ready to play now.
