Ys Net has released a short teaser called Lake of the Lantern Bugs for their newly funded Shenmue III project. During E3 this year, Ys Net managed to procure funding over night in order to create the sequel to the beloved Shenmue II, and you can check it out right here.
Though not long, Lake of the Lantern Bugs shows off some fantastic visuals and lighting, principally shown off by the eponymous lantern bugs, as well as the two main characters themselves. Even though the scene only shows the two admiring the bugs together, the simplicity works in their favor and shows how story-driven and emotional the final product might just be. Fans of the series have a lot to look forward to and can be proud that it was because of them that this project is even under way.
Shenmue III is currently slated for a December 2017 release on Windows and PlayStation 4 systems.
