Telltale Games and Mojang unveiled the debut, and somewhat ominous, trailer for the episodic adventure game based on the hit game Minecraft – Minecraft Story Mode.

The trailer was first revealed at MineCon, the worlds first Minecraft convention in London, which is currently being streamed on Twitch. The trailer came with a healthy dose of details about the actual title itself, and what we can expect from the coming season.

Minecraft: Story Mode follows protagonist Jesse, who, along with his group of friends is an admirer of a group of an ancient heroes known as The Order of the Stone. These four heroes were a Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect who actually managed to slay and Ender Dragon.  While attending a convention dedicated to those heroes, Jesse and his friends discover a nefarious force that is unleashed upon the lands. The group must embark on a quest to find the Order and save the world.

Telltale has gone to extensive lengths to ensure that the story melds seamlessly into the existing world of Minecraft that players know and love, while still creating an original story-telling experience.

“We’ve worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love,” said Kevin Bruner, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games. “As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast. Through Telltale’s choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can’t wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft.”

The first season will feature the voice talents of Patton Oswalt as Jesse alongside Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.

Riding high off of their already incredible cast, the developers also teased that even more are in store for the games release, which will happen later this year. So far, Minecraft: Story Mode has been announced for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS and Android devices.
