One of the more surprising reveals from Ubisoft at E3 this year is Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. When the video first appeared on the big screen, a lot of us here at GamersPack were attempting to figure out what game it could be. Needless to say, we were somewhat shocked in a very good way.
In this game, we’ll be going out into a massive open world, specifically, Ghost Recon Wildlands takes place in Bolivia. In order to capture Bolivia on this scale, the designers went to Bolivia and experienced it first hand. A few years in the future from now, Bolivia has become the number one producer of cocaine while a malevolent company called the Santa Blanca drug cartel has taken over, sending the company into a tailspin of violence, injustice, and lawlessness.
Your team has been sent in to gather information and stop this threat. The Ghosts will have the freedom to operate in all of this territory, slowly destabilizing the cartel and ultimately breaking them and their alliances. How you accomplish these goals is up to you, but be wary, all-out war is not an option. Before each mission, you’ll be tasked to observe and reconnoiter the enemy, then you’ll have to decide how to approach and eliminate your targets.
While not on a mission, you’ll again have the freedom to roam around and accomplish useful goals. For example, you can interact with some of the non-hostile NPC’s and build relationships that may prove useful in the future. You’ll have to be careful though, as the wrong handling of situations can change the course of not just missions, but the overall state of things. This could lead to negative resolutions of the story.
No release date has been set for this title, but we eagerly await more information about this intriguing entry into the Ghost Recon series. Ubisoft has revealed that the game will be available for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
