Ubisoft has released the gameplay video for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, alongside it’s official reveal. The video grants us a nine-minute look into the depths of the game’s core mechanic and story.

This new video shows protagonists Jacob and Evie Frye plotting to build an army of gangs to overthrow the Templar’s hold over the seven boroughs of Victorian era London.

To help him attain this lofty goal, Jacob has some new equipment, including a Batman-esque rope launcher to scale rooftops or create ziplines from rooftop to rooftop. This launcher appears to be mounted in Jacob’s hidden blade. One of the more exciting new features is the ability to use your environment to take out enemies. Jacob is seen using his throwing knives to cut a rope holding a net of barrels above a patrolling guard, as well as using a combination of hallucinogenic darts and a fire pit to cause enemies to fight each other.

Carriage and train travel are some of the new modes of transportation, and the carriages seem to take damage as they’re rammed into or used to ram into things. They are also mentioned to be able to be used as cover or for a stealthy approach. Speaking of stealth, a press of a button activates stealth mode, which allows you to sneak by in enemy territory. Throwing knives are back as a means to stealthily take down enemies from afar. Ally recruitment seems to also make a return.

Near the end of the video, Jacob is ambushed by Bloody Nora, one of the seven Templar gang leaders. The ambush ends up turning into an all-out street brawl between Jacob’s men and a gang of templars. These “gang wars” ultimately decide the owner of the borough, as well as possibly deciding the fate of Templar leaders. Ubisfot has used this brawl as a good opportunity to showcase Syndicate’s new fighting system that is “faster and more responsive than ever.”

All of this is Pre-Alpha footage though, so keep in mind that things could change.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate hits the PS4 and Xbox One on October 23, with a PC version to come out some time later. Those who choose to pre-order the game will get an extra mission: The Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy.
