Bethesda has announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a standalone prequel to the best shooter of 2014 – Wolfenstein: The New Order. The prequel is filled with action, adventure and terror, but most importantly – it takes us back to Castle Wolfenstein.

Taking place in 1946, as the Nazi forces are at the verge of winning WWII, B.J. Blazkowicz is sent on a two-part mission in Bavaria, Germany. In the first part, titled Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves, BJ is infiltrating Castle Wolfenstein in order to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. On the way he will have to face a maniacal prison warden and his shock troops.

In the second part – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – Blazkowicz reaches the city of Wulfburg, where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.

The Old Blood will feature new weapons, such as the bolt-action rifle and grenade-launching Kampfpistole and two rusty pipes that can either be used to climbing or vicious take-downs. There are also new enemies including new super soldiers and a potential supernatural foe that is the “darkest and most terrifying Nazi creations.”

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 5.
