Dying Light’s Twitter account has revealed that not only will the game’s first DLC be free for all players, but it will also feature a Hard Mode that the developers describe as “more vicious”.
Producer Tymon Smektala stated that “We’re going to give our community a new challenge that will put everything they learnt in the game to the test. Hard Mode is exactly that.”
Smektala has also mentioned that several gameplay tweaks will be added to the game in Hard Mode. Night time encounters will be increasingly difficult and that in-game resources will be incredibly scarce.
While Dying Light’s first free downloadable content pack will also feature new character skins to try on, among other improvements to the game, Hard Mode is the focus of this expansion and it appears to be still in the works. “We’re aiming to have it out around the start of March, if not sooner,” Smektala said. “Depends on how brutal we wanna make this on people.”Some of our posts include links to online retail stores.
