Ubisoft has announced Grow Home, an experiential vertical adventure title developed by a team of eight from Ubisoft Reflections. The game stars BUD (Botanical Utility Droid), a child-like robot who must grow a giant space plant to save his home planet.
In Grow Home, vertical exploration of the beautiful, yet minimalist open-world is key to success. Players will help BUD to grow the Star Plant and transform it into a towering structure, reshaping the landscape around them. By doing so, they’ll be able to climb upwards, reach new areas and find hidden crystals to power up BUD’s abilities.
Using a unique climb mechanic, players will control each of BUD’s hands independently, allowing it to grab any surface. But one wrong move will send it crashing down, though according the the trailer above it doesn’t seem to be an issue for the resilient BUD.
“Whether it’s BUD’s charming, procedurally-generated animation, the awesome structure of the Star Plant players create or the beautiful landscapes, there is a peaceful, innocent vibe about Grow Home that makes the game utterly unique,” says Pete Young, producer at Reflections.
Grow Home will be available on PC on February 4.
