All of Evolve’s DLC maps will be completely free of charge, yours simply for having the game.
Turtle Rock Studios’ Creative Director Phil Robb told IGN: “First thing we [Evolve’s creative leads] said was we can’t break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven’t bought something.”
This does not preclude paid DLC in general though, as characters and monsters will still be available in the “standard” DLC format. Except that even if you haven’t bought the DLC in question and your friend has, you two can still play together and benefit from each other’s abilities.
Evolve is currently scheduled for release on February 10 across all regions and platforms after having been pushed back from the original October 2014 date.
