Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, the creators of the classic adventure game Maniac Mansion and the self-proclaimed fathers of point & click, are working together on a new game titled Thimbleweed Park.
Thimbleweed Park tell the story of two washed up detectives who arrive at the small town of Thimbleweed Park to investigate a body that washed up on the shores of a river just outside of town. Of course, things quickly take a turn for the complicated, bizarre and hilarious.
The game will feature “five playable characters, multiple endings, deliciously retro 2D graphics, classic verb-based point & click gameplay, inventory items, and a bizarre comedy storyline swaddled around a grisly murder.” Sounds like fun.
Gilbert and Winnick are currently looking to crowdfund Thimbleweed Park on Kickstarter, so if you’re yearning for the days of 2D point & click adventure games by the folks who made some of the best entries in the genre, go over the the campaign page and pledge.
Thimbleweed Park is a PC exclusive, scheduled for June 2016, which is quite a ways away.
