Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows is a new indie game that attempts to combine the classic stealth gameplay of the Tenchu series with more modern titles like Dishonored and Mark of the Ninja.

Developed by Barcelona-based Lince Works, Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows casts the player as Aragami – a spirit of vengeance. Summoned and bound by the mysterious Yamiko, Aragami seeks to destroy the seals that hold the girl imprisoned. In order to do so, Aragami must use the shadows to his advantage.

As Aragami, the player has the power of “Shadow Control”. With it, the darkness can be manipulated in various ways. The undead ninja can remain unseen in the shadows, teleport between them and even create new pools of shadow to sneak up on enemies and assassinate them.

Lince Works promises to avoid diluting Twin Souls’ gameplay with action, like so many modern stealth games do. Instead, the studio wants the player to feel outnumbered, outmatched and alone, having to rely solely on his cunning and shadow powers.

If you like want you see and read, head over to the game’s Kickstarter page and contribute. Lince Works is hoping to get $70,000 and every bit helps.

Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows will be released on Steam for the PC, Mac and Linux.
