Renegade Kid, developer of horror titles Dementium: The Ward and Dementium 2, as well as shooters Mutant Muddsand Moon, has announced Cult County – a new first-person survival horror title.
Cult County blends the story telling elements of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series with classic survival horror tension and action from games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
The game takes place in a small town in West Texas. Gavin Mellick’s mother has fallen deathly ill, so he returns to his childhood home to tell his older sister the sad news. As he arrives to the house, a raging dust storm sweeps the town and his sister Alissa is nowhere to be found. When asking the locals of the whereabouts of Alissa, Gavin learns about a cult that recently moved into town and the sudden suicide of the local Reverent.
Worst yet, Gavin starts seeing mysterious figures on the edge of the dust storm wherever he goes, but as soon as he tries to talk to them they disappear. Alone and unarmed, Gevin is pulled deeper and deeper into the town’s rotten core as everything around him become distorted and corrupted.
Renegade Kid is currently seeking $580,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to finish developing the game and publish it on PC, Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
