Murdered: Soul Suspect

Murdered: Soul Suspect

Developer: Airtight Games

Publisher: Square Enix

Release date: June 2014

We usually have to wait until the end of the game for the hero to die a noble death, but not with Murdered: Soul Suspect; that’s how the game starts. You’d think being dead would somehow hinder detective Ronan O’Connor’s career as a criminal investigator. Fortunately for us, he doesn’t let trivial things like that lower his spirits (pun intended). With his newly gained abilities, such as possession and mind reading, Ronan sets out to solve his biggest murder case yet – his own.

Armikrog

Armikrog

Developer: Pencil Test Studios

Publisher: Pencil Test Studios

Release date: July 2014

A new claymation adventure game from the creator of Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood? Shut up and take our money – at least that’s what 18,000 Kickstarter backers must have thought. Armikrog raised almost one million dollars last year, enough for this clay dream to get molded into a reality.  You play as Tommynaut, a space explorer who tries to escape a prison fortress called Armikrog.

Dreamfall Chapters

Dreamfall Chapters

Developer: Red Thread Games

Publisher: Red Thread Games

Release date: November 2014

The Longest Journey series is back after what seemed to be the longest wait ever. Dreamfall Chapters continues the story of Zoe Castillo in the twin worlds of Stark and Arcadia, although up until now we’ve only seen former Azadi champion Kian Alvane in action. Developer Red Thread Games, headed by series creator Ragnar Tornquist, promises challenging puzzles, an improved dialog system and the return of heroine April Ryan. Lets hope this time we finally get some closure, after all those years.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Valiant_Hearts_The_Great_War1

Developer: Ubisoft Montpellier

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release date: TBA 2014

We don’t know much about Valiant Hearts: The Great War, apart from its settings (The Great War, or as some might call it – World War I) and that is stars a dog. Actually, we also know it uses Ubisoft’s Ubi-Art framework, the same framework used in Rayman Legends, to create truly beautiful hand-drawn graphics. Did we mention the dog? It has a dog; we love dogs.

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Telltale Games

Developer: Telltale Games

Publisher: Telltale Games

Release date: TBA

Game of Thrones (or A Song of Ice and Fire for you literate types) and Telltale Games – we couldn’t have asked for a better match. We have yet to see the game (of thrones) in action, and we are a little bit worried the cel-shaded look associated with Telltale might not be suited for such a heavy source material. however, with hits like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, we have faith the good folk of Telltale know what they are doing. And yes, we are so going to kill Joffrey if given the choice.
