The Vancouver-base indie studio Over the Moon has announced its very first game – The Fall.

The Fall is a story-driven platformer, with some classic point-and-click and shooter elements mixed in.  The developer has cited games like Super Metroid and Monkey Island as sources of inspiration.

Despite what you maybe thing from the pictures, The Fall isn’t about a guy in a hi-tech suit of armor. No, the game is actually about ARID, the artificial intelligence integrated into the suit. The soldier inside was injured and fell unconscious, and it is up to ARID to operate the suit and bring him to safety.

The gameplay revolves around exploration and combat. Exploration is where the game shows its adventure side, as the player will need to find and  pick up items to use and solve various puzzles. From time to time, ARID will  ave to fight robotic enemies using  cover-based mechanics and strategic strikes.

Over the Moon is currently running a Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaigns. It has already reached its initial goal of $17,000 in less than 10 days. Check the Kickstarter video below.
