The Chinese Room, the makers of the atmospheric Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, is bringing Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (not, it’s not a Bioshock spin-off)  to the PS4.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture follows in the footsteps of Dear Esther and focuses on story and simple gameplay centered around exploration. It promises to be a deep and immersive experience.

The story is that of scientist “trapped in the very second of the apocalypse”. His goal is to explore the open world and find out what happened to everybody by interacting with  objects, places and even people (so I guess you’re not completely alone as the trailer suggests).

The Chinese Room promised more details to come in “due course”. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture has been announced on the PS4, and will probably arrive on the PC as well in 2014.

In the meantime – here are some screenshots.
