Project Phoenix is a new Japanese Role-Playing game combined with Real Time Strategy from game developer Hiroaki Yura, the founder of indie studio Creative Intelligence Arts.

This indie JRPG / RTS hybrid features some very impressive talent, such as art director Kiyoshi Arai, who worked on Final Fantasy XII and XIV, and legendary FF composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Other unannounced team members resume includes titles like Halo 4, Crysis 3, L.A. Noire, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III, Soulcalibur V, Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Steins;Gate Fuka Ryōiki no Déjà vu, and “much more.” One of these unknown people is a designer from a “leading anime mecha” title that “changed the course of Japanese pop culture’s influence in the world.”

As with most JRPGs, the game’s premise and story are a bit… complicated to explain. Basically it boils down to this: Ruffles, an amnesiac angel, comes down the world of Azuregard and encounter three other characters: Marcus Stern, the troubled Templar; Elven princess Sylrianah; Zarum the Lost, who is a conflicted battlemage. The four heroes explore Azuregard and even save it from a war of “misunderstanding and ignorance.”

Project Phoenix’s official site counts down to the game’s Kickstarter campaign – a campaign that asks for $100,000 to make it all come true. If you like what you read and see, make sure to check it out.

If funding is successful, expect Project Phoenix to arrive mid 2015 on the PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
